Student Achievement

As an institution accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), Maysville Community and Technical College (MCTC) is obligated to provide to its students, constituents, and the public information about its goals for student achievement and the success of students in achieving those goals. The institution identifies, evaluates, and publishes goals and outcomes for student achievement appropriate to the institution’s mission, the nature of the students it serves, and the kinds of programs offered. The institution uses multiple measures to document student success. MCTC identifies the measures below for student achievement.

Total Graduation Rates

Definition: Cohort of first-time, full-time, credential-seeking undergraduates who complete their program within 150% of normal time as reported to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).

Kentucky Community and Technical College Objective: Increase graduation rate by 1.0 percentage points each year.

 

Graduation Rate Underrepresented Minorities

Definition: Cohort of first-time, full-time, credential-seeking URM students (American Indian or Alaska
Native, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, and
Two or More Races) who complete their program within 150% of normal time as reported to IPEDS.

Kentucky Community and Technical College Objective: Increase URM graduation rate by 1.4
percentage points each year to align with the colleges' CPE-approved Diversity Plan Metrics.

Experiential Learning

Definition: The percentage of AAS and Diploma graduates (vocational/technical programs) in a given academic year who have participated in an experiential learning component that qualifies for academic credit.

Kentucky Community and Technical College Objective: Increase number of students engaged in
experiential learning by an average of 1.0 percentage points each year.

Total Retention Rate

Definition: Fall-to-fall retention rates of first-time, credential-seeking students as reported to IPEDS.

Kentucky Community and Technical College Objective: Increase retention by an average of 1.0 percentage points each year.

Retention Rate Underrepresented Minority

Definition: The percentage of first-time, credential-seeking URM students (American Indian or Alaska Native, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, and Two or More Races) who return to the institution to continue their studies the following fall.

Kentucky Community and Technical College Objective: Increase URM retention rate by 1.5 percentage points each year to align with colleges' CPE-approved Diversity Plan Metrics.

 Licensure and Certification Pass Rate

Definition: The number of students in the Voluntary Framework of Accountability’s (VFA) Career and Technical Education (CTE) completer/leaver cohort who achieve a passing grade on their first attempt of a licensure exam within one year divided by the number of students in the CTE completer / leaver cohort who sat for the first time to take the licensure exam within one year.

 Associate Degree Transfers

Definition: Percent of Associate earners in academic year who enrolled at a four-year institution that academic year after the term end date of the term the first Associate credential was earned or in the next academic year.

Kentucky Community and Technical College Objective: Increase transfers by an average of 1.0 percentage points each year.

Student Placement

Definition: Preparatory students who completed the program and graduated from the institution or was eligible for graduation/degree that entered the military service or apprenticeship programs, was employed or retained in employment, or retained in employment that is high skill, high demand or high wage occupations or professions in the second quarter/Preparatory students who completed the program or completed the program and was eligible for graduation in the preceding year.

Target: Based on data provided by the Kentucky Community and Technical College System to the National Center for Education Statistics through the Integrated Postsecondary Education Statistics Database (IPEDS), student retention, graduation, and transfer-out rates will meet or exceed the comparison median group provided in Maysville Community and Technical College’s Data Feedback Reports.
