Maysville Community & Technical College Testing Policies and Procedures

  • Special Accommodations. Students who require accommodations due to a disability are required to provide documentation that supports the requested accommodations. Provide this information before the test date. You may contact a college counselor for Disabilities Support Services at 606-783-1538 Ext. 66271 or mctc-accessibilityservices@kctcs.edu
  • Testing appointments are required. Test-takers must make an appointment with the testing coordinator on the appropriate campus. Test-takers will be checked in and checked out by Testing Center Staff. Same-day appointments will be permitted if the testing center has available seating and the appropriate amount of time available for the specific test needed. You must register for NLN exams online in advance according to the NLN requirements.
  • Picture ID. Test-takers must present a valid Driver's License or government issued ID. Student ID cards may only be used for proctored exams for college courses.
  • No Internet capable devices. Cell phones, tablets, watches and other Internet capable devices must be turned off and out of sight for the duration of your exam.
  • No children. Children are not allowed in the Testing Center.
  • Removal of coats/Backpacks. Large jackets or coats and other outerwear may not be worn in examination rooms. Test takers can remove coats and leave at the front of the testing center. Backpacks and/or tote bags must also be left at the front.
  • No talking. Test-takers are reminded to be respectful of one another and to keep noise to a minimum.
  • No food or drink in the testing room. Please help us keep our Testing Center clean.
  • Scratch paper will be provided by the Testing Center and must be returned to Testing Center staff at the conclusion of the assessment.
  • Test monitoring. Testing center staff will monitor all test-takers. If a testing staff member suspects cheating, they will end the exam and report suspicions to the instructor of any proctored exams. Placement exam results (KYOTE and TABE) will not be recorded and the exam must be retaken in the event cheating is suspected.
  • Use only approved software. Test-takers will NOT open external Web sites or other software programs unless given explicit permission to do so.
  • Mozilla Firefox. Use the Mozilla Firefox web browser to access your exam.
  • No reentry. Once a test has begun, test-takers who exit the Testing Center and then resume their test will be reported for a potential test violation. Many testing sponsors do not permit reentry. You may ask permission for a bathroom break while taking the TABE or KYOTE placement exams.
  • Raise hand for assistance. Test-takers who require assistance may raise their hand to alert Testing Center staff.
  • Restricted Resources. Test takers will use only those resources permitted by the test directions. Testing Center staff will explain these resources at the start of the assessment.
  • Integrity of Testing Information. Test takers will not record or make copies in any format of test content.
  • Emergency Closures. All Testing Centers follow Maysville Community & Technical College emergency closures. These can be viewed by visiting our website maysville.kctcs.edu. Any closures will be listed at the top of the main website.
  • Failure to follow these policies may result in the nullification of test scores as well as possible disciplinary action as covered in the Code of Student Conduct.
