What Are Some Student Responsibilities When Registered with Accessibility Services? | MCTC

ALL CAMPUSES OPERATING REMOTELY, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 4 DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

Due to increasing severity in winter weather, instead of a 3-hour delay, remote services and instruction are being delivered on Wednesday, February 4th. All campus buildings and parking lots are closed. Do not report to campus. Faculty and staff will be working remotely during this time to provide student services. For classes that are able, instruction will also be delivered remotely. Email your instructors for more information regarding your classes.

What Are Some Student Responsibilities When Registered with Accessibility Services?

You must contact Accessibility Services each semester to request accommodations. If we have met in person before, we can meet by email or phone as long as you are asking for the same accommodations. (We can also do that if you cannot meet in person due to an accessibility reason.)

The accommodation letter will be send to your professors within the 1st week of class or soon after (if class is already in session). Talk with your professor about your recommended accommodations. Successful accommodations require communication! You may or may not be comfortable with talking about your disability. But, you need to be able to talk about what accommodations you need.

Contact Accessibility Services if you change your schedule. This is especially important if:

  • you use texts in different formats
  • your class location was changed
  • you are using adaptive technology that has to be moved or re-installed.

Contact Accessibility Services immediately if the professor does not take actions on your accommodations or if the accommodations are not working for you.

These are not all of your responsibilities. It is a list of a few of the important responsibilities when you use Accessibility Services.
