Melinda WalkerMelinda Walker, associate professor of psychology at Maysville Community and Technical College, has been appointed chair of the College’s Division of Liberal Arts and Education.

Based at MCTC’s Licking Valley Campus in Cynthiana, Walker joined the college faculty in 2010. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in clinical psychology, both from Morehead State University.

Dr. Thomas Ware, provost and chief academic officer, said of his appointment of Walker:

“Melinda has shown remarkable organizational and management skills in her role as chair of the College Advisory Committee on Promotions. The CACP is a very important committee for faculty at MCTC since the committee is instrumental in faculty promotions. Her exceptional work with that committee made her a natural fit for leading the Liberal Arts and Education division at the College.”

Prior to her academic career, Walker was a psychological associate and qualified mental health professional at Pathways, Inc. in Owingsville, and a mental health technician at Stoner Creek Psychiatric Centre in Paris.

She holds memberships in the Kentucky and American psychological associations.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the LAE division chair,” Walker stated. “I look forward to representing the division and helping meet the needs of MCTC students."

She is a resident of Georgetown.
