Meredith Walters, a student from Maysville Community and Technical College (MCTC) has been elected to the Kentucky Community and Technical College (KCTCS) Board of Regents.

Meredith lives in Mt. Sterling and is pursuing a degree in nursing. Additionally, she has served as a work-study for the college recruiting department. Working at MCTC as a work-study has allowed Meredith to visit area high schools and businesses to share with prospective students her experience at the college.

“I’ve been fortunate to learn a lot about MCTC, everything the college offers and have loved sharing that with potential students. Now I get to share what I’ve learned with the Board of Regents as well as learn about things happening across the entire Kentucky Community and Technical College System,” she says.

"MCTC has been a great experience for me, I'm honored and excited to represent students from our college and all of KCTCS on the Board of Regents,” says Walters. “I appreciate the fact that they value input from students and intend to make the most of my time while I serve," she adds.

She attributes her new position to the faculty and staff at the college that have pushed her to the fullest potential. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without the wonderful staff at MCTC pushing me to be the best that I can be,” Walters concludes.

The 14-member Board of Regents is comprised of members from both within and outside of KCTCS.  Eight members are appointed by the Governor and six are KCTCS elected members: two members of the teaching faculty elected by faculty; two members of the non-teaching personnel elected by non-teaching personnel; and two members of the student body elected by students.

Student Representatives to the Board of Regents present the student voice to the Board, bringing their perspective to the Board's deliberations.

Angela Fultz, PhD., Professor of Chemistry and Division Chair for the Math and Sciences Division at MCTC also serves on the board.
