MCTC hosts Culinary Camp

image of participants in Culinary Kids CampMaysville Community amp; Technical College Institute of Culinary Arts held their first Kids Culinary Camp July 26-29. There were 15 students ages 9-13 who participated in the camp this year. We are happy to report that we had excellent attendance each day, with all 15 students attending. Each day began with a short lecture on safety and nutrition. Students then prepared items according to the theme of the day. On Monday the theme was Breakfast, students prepared banana pancakes, yogurt, and raisin bread dippers. On Tuesday the theme was Light Meals where they prepared baked eggs amp; ham, griddle cakes amp; mini pizzas. Wednesdays theme was Main Meals where they prepared BBQ Ribs, baked potatoes, fruit gelatin and popsicles. On their final day the theme was Desserts. Students prepared a variety of desserts and parents were invited to come early for a tasting of their creations. Students took home a copy of the cookbook used throughout the week Kids Fun amp; Healthy. Ian Edgington was the winner of the kids apron and chef hat give-a-way.
