MCTC hosting Senior Seminar

On Friday, May 27th the Workforce Solutions department at MCTC will host the bi-annual Senior Seminar for area senior citizens. This event is cosponsored by Licking Valley Community Action Program, Buffalo Trace Area Agency on Aging and Maysville Community amp; Technical College. The theme this year is Be Senior Savvy. Representative Mike Denham will give the welcome, which will focus on scams targeted toward senior citizens. The keynote speaker will be Maysville native, Dr. David M. Blake, M.D., PSC Neurologist, who currently has a private practice in neurology and is located in the St. Joseph Office Park in Lexington, KY. Dr. Blakes keynote address is entitled Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, Music amp; Exercise: How 3 Rs, an M, and an E Can Keep a Good Brain Working Well. The event will also offer concurrent sessions throughout the day. Sessions will include information on Medicare, Floral Design, SilverSneakers YogaStretch, Basic Acrylic Painting, Crime: The top 10 scams and personal protection, a Riding Tour, Write Your Life, Planting Party, Bird Watching, Zumba Gold, Social Networking, Line Dancing, Wills, Living Wills and Power of Attorney, Memory Exercises and Travel Across the U.S. with Healthy Eating. Lunch will be provided by Licking Valley C.A.P. Approximately 20 vendors will be in attendance to promote awareness of products and/or services they have to offer to the aging population. With already over 70 reservations secured, pre-registration with a fee of $7 is encouraged.
