Maysville Community and Technical College will host a ribbon cutting ceremony
on Friday, September 26th to recognize the grand opening of the Student Veteran Resource
Center, located on the Maysville campus. The event will be held in the Calvert Lounge
starting at 10:00 a.m.
Guest speakers will include Kentucky Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Heather French
Henry and MCTC student and former marine, Cody Wolfe. The Student Veteran Resource
Center represents so much more than a place for student veterans to study, work on
projects and unwind between classes; its a reminder of our appreciation to the commitment
that these men and women have made to our country, stated MCTC President, Dr. Ed Story.
The Student Veteran Resource Center will be accessible to students whenever the campus
is opened and will offer a coffee station and refrigerator. Its equipped with couches,
a television and desks for studying. Making the transition from soldier to college
student can be tough, and we hope this will help make the transition a little smoother,
said Admissions Advisor, Steve Crail. Crail initiated the idea for the Center and
has been instrumental in its formation. This is a great place for veterans to bond
with other veterans and to learn more about their G.I. Bill.
The event is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
