Kentucky Campus Compact Welcomes Hannah Diedrichsen
August 10, 2009 (Highland Heights, KY) Kentucky Campus Compact is pleased to welcome Hannah Diedrichsen of Morehead, KY as a new member of its AmeriCorps*VISTA Program. For her 12-month federal volunteer position, Diedrichsen will serve at Maysville Community amp; Technical College.
Hannah earned a bachelors degree in 2004 and a masters in 2007, both from Morehead State University. She will assist Maysville CTC in strengthening its community service programming. During her term of service, she will work from the colleges Rowan County campus to coordinate campus-community partnerships that provide assistance to those living in poverty as well as opportunities for faculty and students to serve through both volunteerism and service-learning courses.
Diedrichsens term of service will extend from August 2009 to August 2010.
Kentucky Campus Compact (KyCC) is a statewide coalition of Kentucky college and university presidents and their institutions, both public and private. Its vision is to help higher education strengthen the Commonwealths communities and improve the lives of Kentuckys citizens. Founded in 2005, KyCC includes 21 member institutions and is hosted on the campus of Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Ky. The organization was awarded an AmeriCorps*VISTA Program in 2006 by the Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal agency.
Volunteers in Service to America was founded in 1965 to fight urban and rural poverty. Since then, more than 177,000 members have served full-time in non-profit organizations and public agencies for a year each. AmeriCorps*VISTA is part of AmeriCorps, a network of national and community service programs that each year supports the engagement of more than 70,000 Americans in intensive service to meet critical needs in education, the environment, public safety, homeland security, and other areas.
