MCTC Foundation to participate in Kentucky Gives Day on May 11
The Maysville Community and Technical College Foundation is announcing that it will join hundreds of other non-profit organizations in the 9th annual Kentucky Gives Day on Tuesday, May 11.
The statewide, 24-hour, online, private giving event has raised more than $2.7 million in the past eight years. It is hosted by the Kentucky Nonprofit Network (KNN) and assisted by Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield and the Central Kentucky Community Foundation.
To participate, each non-profit must be registered with the state attorney general’s office, as required by Kentucky state law for all non-profit organizations actively soliciting private gifts. The MCTC Foundation (MCTCF) is listed on the AG’s register by its founding name of Licking Valley College Development Corporation.
“We are delighted to become part of this growing statewide effort to encourage more private gifts to organizations that make a real difference in the lives of those served,” said Cara W. Clarke, executive director of the MCTCF. “Our goal is to make it as simple and convenient as possible for our alumni and other friends to help us help our students.”
Clarke said this year’s gifts on, before or immediately after Kentucky Gives Day will be dedicated primarily to assisting MCTC graduates with paying fees to become credentialed in their jobs through certifications, licenses, and other processes. Such costs are not covered by student financial aid.
Unusual financial issues related specifically to effects of the COVID-19 pandemic also can be addressed.
“The Kentucky Nonprofit Network identifies its members as ‘a relentless, collective force for good’ and we believe that accurately describes the mission of the MCTC Foundation,” she added.
Starting at 12:01 a.m. on May 11, those who support the work of non-profit organizations in Kentucky are asked to go to www.ky.gives.org and select those groups to receive personal gifts. Each organization has a profile statement to explain its operations.
