The award was given to recognize the successful collaboration and fundraising efforts for the new MCTC campus that will be located on 41 acres inside the MMRC Industrial Park on KY 801. Construction on the 91,000 square foot facility is already underway with expected project completion by mid-year 2017.

The fundraising effort was part of a larger statewide initiative called the KCTCS BuildSmart Investment for Kentucky Competitiveness. The plan included a $21 million agency bond paired with a public and private match of $7 million, representing a $28 million investment in the regional economy.
