Jacob Williams, owner and operator of Temp-Pro Heating & Air, is sharing his story as an alumnus of Maysville Community and Technical College.
Williams earned his associate in applied science degree from MCTC in 2015 after completing the HVAC program on the Montgomery Campus.
As a college graduate, Williams spent the first few years of his career doing “handyman” work before being offered a job at Fayette Heating and Air in Lexington doing HVAC and electrical work.
After working there for six years, Williams began to see the lack of valuable HVAC work in his own community, leading to the startup of Temp-Pro Heating & Air.
“Not only my local community, but also surrounding communities needed good, honest, and dependable work that wasn’t overpriced,” he said.
He noted that he frequently uses the skills and knowledge he gained at MCTC in his business.
“I still use the things I learned in school every day, reading charts, writing diagrams, checking pressures, and a lot more. From time to time, I can still hear Adam Hawkins (an HVAC professor at MCTC) in my head giving me instructions while working out in the field,” Williams said.
He credits the college for giving him the encouragement and knowledge he needed to succeed on his path.
“MCTC had a huge impact on my career, from giving me the knowledge necessary to join the workforce, finding me a job, to continued encouragement. I’d say MCTC has been a huge part of my unfinished story,” Williams said. “Take in all that you can while you’re here, and MCTC can be the best start to your future.”
