Join MCTC for a Big Top Book Carnival
Maysville Community and Technical College’s Library is inviting students, employees, and children ages 5-11 to a Big Top Book Carnival on the Montgomery Campus on Wednesday, July 8, from 11 am to 3 pm.
Combining the excitement of a traditional carnival with opportunities for children to embrace the joy of reading, the event will feature movies, cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, games, prizes, and more.
The Big Top Book Carnival will bring more than just a day of fun, as it will give
children the chance to be encouraged on literacy, imagination, and community involvement.
“This event is designed to promote literacy and library services during the summer
when there is a higher need for filling educational gaps while classes are not in
session,” said Jay Stringer-Vaught, MCTC’s library director.
The Big Top Book Carnival is a part of the library’s expanded Summer Reading Program, themed the “Big Top Book Bash.” The program runs from July 1 through July 31.
“Employees and students are encouraged to log each book they read from May to August using the form posted on the library’s webpage. Each book logged earns the participated free MCTC snacks and swag that can be retrieved at the start of the fall semester, in addition to raffle tickets for larger prizes,” said Stringer-Vaught. “If you’re reading this summer, you might as well be rewarded for it!”
The Big Top Book Carnival is free to the public. To register, go to https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=UTnj8sQeckyyv6T0Zx1krxBxvjhcEj1LtJ8nQ1_pV55UMEJLRlBMMTc2QTdSVEtYRkdYUlFDN0pXWS4u&route=shorturl
