LPN to RN student discusses experience in top-ranking program

Published on Mar 3, 2026

Tiffany HunterAs a student in the 3rd highest ranking licensed practical nurse (LPN) to registered nurse (RN) program in the state, Tiffany Hunter is proud to be an alumna of Maysville Community and Technical College.

Hunter has been an LPN for 9 years and has always found herself looking to improve her skills and learn more. Ideally, she wants to work as a specialist and help people.

“Becoming an RN means that I can further my career, education, and become a better nurse than I already am. I truly want to be able to work in areas that I have been in, to help people not only from a nursing standpoint but from personal experience,” she said.

Since joining the LPN to RN program, Hunter has started to think more critically about the “bigger picture” in the medical world—noting that her instructors have helped her to feel more confident in her skills.

“My confidence is starting to beam as I notice the hard work and dedication this program takes. I am a part of something that not only will make me a better nurse, but also challenges me and pushes me to be the best I can be. It is an honor to be in the program and be able to help others,” Hunter said. “It feels good to know that I am attending a school that is constantly working to improve and prioritize student satisfaction.”

As MCTC continues to help meet workforce needs in the service area, faculty in the nursing department remain committed to preparing graduates to be clinically competent, confident, and ready to serve their communities.
