MCTC student secures job in high-demand field

Throughout April, May and June, Maysville Community and Technical College will feature 12 students who graduated in May 2025 and have committed to high-demand careers.

This is a Going Pro initiative, which strives to bring awareness to the possibilities unlocked as a traditional-age college student with little to no experience in the workforce.

With many different programs offered at MCTC, prospective students can enter the workforce right after finishing their credentials.

Hannah Ingram, 22, is a student enrolled in the Industrial Maintenance (IM) program on the Montgomery Campus. Beginning her student life with MCTC as a dual credit student, Ingram completed two associate degrees and later returned, seeking credentials for maintenance.

“I chose MCTC because it was highly recommended in high school, as well as when I attended the first time the classes were smaller than at a university (I also went to MSU for two semesters before returning here) and I felt I learned better and connected more with the professors here at MCTC, so after deciding on a career change I returned here to pursue a degree related in my current field of work,” Ingram said.

Ingram has been employed with Summit Polymers in Montgomery County for nearly three years. She shared some benefits of furthering her education in her selected career field.

“The benefits of education related to my job are an increase in skills, more knowledge relative to maintenance, an increase in job opportunities and an apprenticeship after completing this associate,” Ingram explained.

With employers seeking qualified professionals in technical fields, success stories like Ingram’s emphasize the value of beginning locally with the support of community-focused education.

Her story reflects the significance of the Going Pro series, showing how students can utilize their access to hands-on education that transitions directly into a rewarding career or opportunity.
