Gibson named SOM at MCTC for December | MCTC

ALL CAMPUSES OPERATING ON 3 HOUR DELAY, TUESDAY, MARCH 17

All MCTC campuses are operating on a 3-hour delay on Tuesday, March 17 due to inclement weather. Campus buildings will open at 11 a.m. Faculty and staff do not report to work until 11 a.m. Student services are not available remotely before 11 a.m., but will be available on campus as normal after 11 a.m.

    Gibson named SOM at MCTC for December

    Andrea GibsonAndrea Gibson has been named Student of the Month (SOM) for December 2025 at Maysville Community and Technical College. 

    Gibson, a student in the Ready to Work (RTW) program on the Montgomery Campus, was nominated by one of MCTC’s student support specialists, Sherry Stacy. 

    According to Stacy, Gibson is “a model student.”

    “She works hard to achieve her goals and to follow her dreams. It is by observation that I know Andrea is a busy lady, but she still gives her best to all her important roles,” Stacy said. 

    Gibson is on track to complete her associate in applied science degree in Human Services this month, holding a 3.923 GPA and making the president’s list each semester she has been enrolled at MCTC. 

    After graduating from MCTC, Gibson plans to transfer to Morehead State University (MSU) to obtain a bachelor's degree in social work. 

    “I think Andrea chose this career path because she wants to help people and to make the world a better place for her family and friends,” Stacy remarked.
