Adam HawkinsAdam Hawkins, a professor in the HVAC program at Maysville Community and Technical College, was recently recognized for his role as a subject matter expert in crafting a national HVAC examination with NOCTI.

NOCTI is a leading provider of industry credentials and resources for career and technical education programs across the nation.

Hawkins, a practicing master contractor and owner of Adam Hawkins Heating and Cooling, LLC, brings both professional field experience and academic leadership to students at MCTC.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with educators and business and industry professionals from across the country who came together to create a national exam that will be used in high schools, technical colleges, and training institutions for years to come,” Hawkins remarked. “As someone who has spent half my life working in the HVAC field as a technician and an educator, to think that this will be used to help thousands of students and instructors is a surreal experience.”

As NOCTI states in a newsletter highlighting Hawkins, the recognition of subject matter experts shows the level of industry-driven credential development at the institution.

Hawkins’ expertise directly impacts the HVAC curriculum, ensuring students receive instruction on par with real-world industry standards.

His dual perspective as a hands-on technician and a professor helps students master practical skills, prepare for credentialing, and enter the workforce with more confidence.

Having a nationally recognized subject-matter expert in MCTC’s HVAC program reinforces the college’s commitment to delivering high-quality technical education.

Prospective students would not only be learning the content but also getting hands-on experience with a professional who has helped shape the national benchmark.
