Continuing its tradition of excellence in nursing education in the area, the main campus Associate Degree Nursing program (ADN) at Maysville Community and Technical College has been ranked #4 in the state.
As one of 7 colleges in the Kentucky Community and Technical College system to make the list, MCTC is proud to have been recognized for the excellence and quality of its nursing program. The nursing program is a direct path leading to joining the nursing workforce, helping to address the shortage that is being seen nationwide.
As stated on registerednursing.org, Kentucky is projected to see a 9 percent increase in nursing positions over the next 10 years. The nursing program at MCTC will help those interested in the career field begin their journey, ultimately addressing the shortage.
“Surpassing many four-year institutions, this ranking is a powerful testament to the strength of our program and our commitment to preparing students for success in today’s dynamic healthcare environment,” remarked Ginger Clarke-Gallagher, associate vice president in nursing.
In addition to this prestigious recognition, the last three cohorts of the ADN program on the Maysville Campus have earned a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
Clarke-Gallagher continued, “Our nursing instructors have built a legacy of excellence that continues to inspire. We are incredibly proud of our students and faculty, whose hard work and resilience have shaped the ADN program into one of the top-ranked in the state.”
Harley Wenz, an assistant professor at MCTC, remarked on the program being ranked among the top 5 nursing programs in Kentucky.
“Being ranked #4 in the state is an incredible honor that reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, and most importantly, our students,” Wenz began. “I’m proud of the work my colleagues and I have poured into advancing our program, from implementing changes that align with current professional standards to integrating advancing technologies into every aspect of our curriculum. This recognition celebrates not only our shared commitment to excellence, but also the bright future of nursing our graduates represent.”
Alexandra Watt, an assistant coordinator at MCTC, shared her thoughts on the program’s ranking.
“It is a tremendous honor for our ADN program to be recognized as the #4 program in the state! Since stepping into my role as an instructor and Assistant Coordinator, I have been continually impressed by the expertise and commitment of our faculty, as well as the dedication and perseverance of our students. Together, we strive to advance our program with the goal of preparing highly skilled, compassionate nurses who are ready to make a meaningful impact in the workforce,” she said.
