For high school students looking to get ahead, Dual Credit courses at Maysville Community and Technical College offer a rewarding opportunity to begin their college journey.

By enrolling in college-level courses before high school graduation, students have the potential to earn both their high school diploma and their associate degree simultaneously, ultimately saving time and money.

Alisha Plummer, director of Dual Credit at MCTC, noted the smooth transition as a Dual Credit student.

“Dual Credit helps students get a head start on their college experience, making the transition smoother and potentially reducing future college costs,” Plummer began.

Giving students a head start on college, dual credit courses can help students learn more about their career interests and increase their chances of completing a college degree.

Plummer remarked on the practicality of dual credit.

“By combining high school and college coursework, dual credit offers a practical way for students to enhance their academic skills and prepare for their future careers,” Plummer remarked.

Students who enroll in MCTC Dual Credit classes can earn associate degrees and certificates at a faster rate, which will save them on tuition costs in the future.

Dual Credit courses are offered at various locations, including area high schools, area technology centers, MCTC and online.

MCTC also offers Dual Credit courses to homeschooled students.
