For many students, the path to a rewarding career begins with a single step, and for
Justin Rogers, that step was enrolling at Maysville Community and Technical College.
Rogers is a 2024 graduate of the Computerized Manufacturing and Machining program on the Rowan Campus. He discussed his reason for choosing MCTC.
“I chose MCTC because it is local and has the best reviews in the career path that I chose,” he explained.
Looking toward his future, Rogers knew he would need to be prepared to begin his career.
MCTC provided him with the assistance he needed, instilling confidence and experience with machinery he would use in the workforce.
“MCTC provided me with the correct equipment and work environment to prepare me in having the ability to operate manual and CNC machines,” he remarked.
While earning his associate in applied science, Rogers secured a job with Lockheed Martin in Lexington. Today, he is still putting his skills and knowledge to use as a machine tool operator with the company.
“I love the atmosphere and learning more and more each day I go into work,” Rogers said.
He attributed his success in the professional world to the credentials he earned at MCTC.
“Attending MCTC has not only gotten me a career, but it has also changed my salary potential that any other regular job would offer,” Rogers said.
Rogers shared some advice to those who may be considering enrolling at MCTC.
“My advice is, if you’re ready to have a career and not just a job, don’t be scared to go back to school and achieve your goals! I wish I went a lot sooner, but it’s never too late,” he said.
