Throughout April, May, and June, Maysville Community and Technical College will feature
12 students who graduated in May 2025 and have committed to high-demand careers.
This is a Going Pro initiative, which strives to bring awareness to the possibilities unlocked as a traditional-age college student with little to no experience in the workforce.
With many different programs offered at MCTC, prospective students can enter the workforce right after finishing their credentials.
Kennedy Graham is a student of the Maysville Campus Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program who is in her 20s. She began her studies with MCTC in August 2023, completing her associate in applied science in May 2025.
Before entering the MLT program, Graham knew she wanted to seek a career in healthcare. While exploring several programs, Michelle Thoroughman, the MLT program coordinator, recruited her to the field.
Graham discussed some benefits of enrolling at MCTC for the MLT program.
“It’s close to home, and it benefited me to go here,” Graham said. She noted that Thoroughman’s kindness stuck out to her as well.
Even before graduating, Graham had a job secured with Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH) in Cynthiana. Graham connected with the organization at a Career Fair, she said.
Her supervisor, Anchalee Steele, remarked on the organization’s relationship with MCTC.
“Our relationship with the school has been good,” Steele said. “I know the value of getting students, because we need the help…They need a chance, and we want to give them a chance.”
At MCTC, there are many opportunities available for those who are seeking a career in the medical field.
