In less than a week, a wave of generosity can help make a difference in the future of students at Maysville Community and Technical College.

Giving Day 2025, a Kentucky Community and Technical College System annual event, gives communities 24 hours to contribute to several of MCTC’s most emergent funds.

Many students and their families have faced significant economic and financial challenges. At the same time, high-demand industries across the state are facing workforce shortages.

Now more than ever, students need support to ensure they finish college prepared to enter and succeed in high-demand careers.

A study conducted last year revealed that 48 percent of KCTCS students reported not knowing where their next meal would come from. 48 percent of respondents also reported housing insecurity.

The funds available for contribution on the MCTC Giving Day page are in place to assist students during these times of need, intending to address the barriers that often prevent student success.

Among the categories available for donations are the food pantry, student emergency funds, student completion funds, and the Maysville scholarship fund.

Each of these funds serves MCTC students in different, but near-equally important ways. Every donated dollar has the chance to become a stepping stone for students who are in dire need of support.

The MCTC Alumni Association is also listed as a fund for Giving Day.

Individuals, businesses and organizations interested in supporting MCTC students can designate their gifts directly to the college throughout a 24-hour period on Wednesday, April 16.

Early giving is already open.

An anonymous donor has also pledged up to $47,000 in matching funds as each Giving Day MCTC Challenge Goal is met.

Whether it’s $5 or $50, every dollar counts. MCTC’s goal is to reach 75 contributions.
