Walker named December SOM at MCTC

Allison Walker has been named December Student of the Month (SOM) for Maysville Community and Technical College. 

MCTC faculty and staff are invited to make such nominations for students who deserve recognition for extraordinary effort and accomplishments each month.

Selected students receive recognition through a signed certificate from the president and by having their photo displayed in the President’s Office lobby for the month.

Allison was nominated for Student of the Month by Christy Kissick, a success coach in the student success department at MCTC. 

Christy nominated Allison because of her efforts exhibited and the impressions she has made since first joining the work-study program in enrollment services. 

“Her cheerful demeanor and warm greetings brighten the office atmosphere, welcoming everyone,” Christy remarked. 

Allison’s positive attitude and willingness to aid in creating a supportive environment were key factors in Christy’s decision to nominate her for SOM. 

“Everyone appreciates her contributions and looks forward to working with her each day,” Christy said.

“I am grateful that I was recommended for SOM,” Allison said. “College is difficult, but I've been blessed to have the support I need from my family and community to succeed.”

Allison will graduate from MCTC in May 2025. She plans to transfer to Morehead State University and enroll in their traditional music program.
