Several manufacturing facilities in MCTC’s service area were invited in hopes of fulfilling a goal to expose females to different pathways in manufacturing.

MCTC Director of Workforce Solutions De’Sarae Perry remarked on event partnerships.

“We are appreciative of the partnerships with local and surrounding manufacturers and community workforce resources,” Perry began. “Because of their dedication and support in this initiative, we were able to see a spark of interest in many of the young ladies.”

The 2024 Women in Manufacturing events were held on the Maysville and Rowan campuses.

Students attended breakout sessions, spoke with community partners, learned about different jobs within manufacturing and viewed demonstrations in some of MCTC’s labs.

Perry reiterated the benefits of such events at MCTC.

“Women in Manufacturing educates and exposes our young female students to other career pathways that they never imagined through hands-on activities, classes about companies and demonstrations, “ she said. “We look forward to the expanded partnerships and attendance for next year.”

Various team members at MCTC played key roles in planning and putting the events on this year. Their hard work and dedication to women in manufacturing is commendable.
