Maysville Community and Technical College is proud to announce that MCTC faculty member Jennifer Adler was recognized by her peers with the Exemplary Course Program (ECP) Award.
The ECP Award, presented by Anthology, recognizes faculty and course designers from schools, colleges, and universities around the world who develop engaging and innovative courses that represent the very best in technology and learning.
Adler, an associate professor of Biology at MCTC, was selected a winner for her course BIO 120-Human Ecology. The course demonstrated excellence in four areas:
- Course Design: the elements of instructional design, such as its structure, learning objectives, and instructional strategies.
- Interaction and Collaboration: the level of engagement offered by the course and the level of student interaction and collaboration.
- Assessment: the evaluation of student work toward the achievement of learning outcomes and the quality and type of student assessments.
- Learner Support: the resources made available to students, which may be accessible within or external to the course environment.
“Jen's achievement in receiving the ECP award is a testament to her dedication to excellence in online learning and course design,” said Liz Dement, MCTC Director of Teaching and Learning. “Her commitment to providing authentic assessments and meaningful feedback not only enhances student learning but also sets a standard for innovative and effective teaching practices.”
She added, “We are deeply grateful to Jen for her unwavering commitment to delivering such high-quality courses to her students and for always going above and beyond to support their success. Her work exemplifies the high-quality education we strive to offer at MCTC. Her extra time and effort in elevating this course to the ECP level are truly commendable.”
The Exemplary Course Program, which has flourished for nearly two decades, highlights the groundbreaking achievements of educators and course designers around the world.
"We are incredibly proud to have Jennifer as part of our team,” said Dr. Dana Calland, MCTC Vice President of Academic Services. "This honor is a testament to Jennifer’s dedication, expertise, and outstanding contributions to our college. Her commitment to excellence and her innovative teaching methods have positively impacted countless students, inspiring them to achieve their academic and personal goals. Her passion for education and unwavering support for her students make her truly deserving of this recognition.”
Adler is being honored alongside other exceptional awardees, with their achievements highlighted on the Anthology website and within the Anthology Community. This platform serves as a hub for the largest organized network of users to connect, share insights, and learn from one another.
“Rebuilding my Human Ecology course was a labor of love, as I sought to make my online presence as engaging and rigorous as a well-designed, in-person course,” Adler said. “Although this took time and the acquisition of new skills, the Blackboard Exemplary Course Program Rubric provided clear, best-practice goals while allowing me the flexibility to implement the components that fit best within my particular course. I am honored to receive the recognition that my course meets these rigorous best practices for online education. It serves as personal validation that I'm doing my part to help my students succeed.”
