Maysville Community and Technical College strives to support students as they navigate their academic journey and prepare them for their future careers.

Medical Information Technology (MIT) student Heather Dudley is the latest example of this. She just earned her associate degree on Friday and has already secured a job with her internship host site: Active Care Chiropractic in Maysville.

All students enrolled in the MIT program are required to do an internship or cooperative experience in a medical office environment. Dudley said her responsibilities during her internship experience included calling patients to remind them of their appointments, filing charts, and data entry.

“It really means a lot to me that they have given me the opportunity to be a part of their team,” Dudley said. “I hope to thrive and advance my professional development for my career.”

Jennifer Ouderkirk, MIT program coordinator, says Dudley’s success can be directly attributed to her dedication.

“Heather exemplifies excellence as a student, as demonstrated by her outstanding performance,” said Ouderkirk. “Her dedication and work ethic left a lasting impression on her internship site, leading to her being offered a position. Heather's determination and effort have truly paid off, and we couldn't be prouder of her accomplishments. As she graduates from the MIT program, we eagerly anticipate the promising future that lies ahead for her.”

The MIT program at MCTC is entirely online. Students enrolled in the MIT program may be eligible for the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship, which will pay the program’s tuition in its entirety.
