Dr. Laura McCullough, President/CEO of Maysville Community & Technical College recently visited business and industry partners in Harrison County as the final stop on her Community Connections series.

She was joined by Dr. Dana Calland, Chief Academic Officer, Barb Campbell, Chief Business Officer, and Jessica Kern, Chief Officer of Enrollment and Student Services, as well as other college representatives.

The event was held at the Harrison County Fairgrounds and hosted by Lauren Gillis, campus director of MCTC’s Licking Valley Campus.

Representatives from Harrison County Schools, Harrison County Extension Office, Cynthiana Police Department, Harrison Memorial Hospital, and others attended the session. Those in attendance were encouraged to provide suggestions for ways the college could help support Harrison County.

McCullough was named president of MCTC in June 2022 and additionally visited Lewis County, Bath County, and Montgomery County as part of the series.

“We are in the life-changing business,” McCullough said during last Thursday’s forum. “What can we do to better serve the people of Harrison County?”

As a part of the presentation, Kern shared MCTC’s enrollment data for fall 2022, Calland provided academic updates, including new program offerings, and Campbell gave updates on personnel and infrastructure.

McCullough and Gillis also recognized guidance counselors, Donelle Judy and Allison Earlywine, for their commitment to the students of Harrison County.

“As guidance counselors, Allison Earlywine and Donelle Judy advise their students on the best path to take when they graduate from high school,” said Gillis. “Some of those students choose MCTC as the best option for them, which allows us to prepare them to enter the workforce and be employed by many of our partners in the room today. We value all the work that Allison and Donnelle do every day to improve the lives of the students at Harrison County High School.”

MCTC’s Licking Valley Campus is located at 319 Webster Avenue in Cynthiana.

Certificate and degree programs offered at the Licking Valley Campus include Associate in Arts, Lineworker, Associate in Science, Health Science Technology Medicaid Nurse Aid, Associate Degree-Nursing, and Phlebotomy.
