Prepare for the Office of the 21st Century!
The offices of today are relying more and more on technology, causing the traditional role of office professionals to change greatly. No longer are they just "secretaries", but an integral part of the office staff with duties once reserved for managerial and professional staff. Our Administrative Office Technology (AOT) program will prepare you to work in that office environment of people, processes, and technologies. You will gain experience using a variety of office technology and computer-based applications such as word processing, desktop publishing, graphics, databases, and spreadsheets. You will learn to support and facilitate accurate communication and information exchange to internal and external customers. Technical courses combined with general education courses will prepare you for today's workforce and provide a basis for lifelong learning. You will also complete supervised work experience in an office setting prior to graduation, giving you valuable knowledge and contacts within the industry. Upon graduation you may choose to sit for industry-recognized certification exams such as the Certified Professional Secretary Examination or Microsoft Office Specialists Certification.
What are my career choices?
The AOT program will prepare you with a broad base of knowledge and skills needed for a variety of positions in an office with an emphasis on word-processing and related software applications.
