Cynthiana, KYThe Workforce Solutions department of Maysville Community and Technical College (MCTC) is an invaluable training resource to employers across the region. We work with companies to provide the training employees need for companies to remain competitive in today's global economy, stated Lennie Kinney, Workforce Solutions CE/CS Coordinator. In addition, MCTC will assist in accessing resources to offset training expenses through the KCTCS-TRAINS program.

KCTCS-TRAINS is part of the Kentucky Skills Network, which is a partnership of workforce professionals from the Cabinet for Economic Development, Kentucky Career Center (Education amp; Workforce Development Cabinet), Labor Cabinet and KCTCS, all dedicated to providing solutions-based services.

Through the KCTCS-TRAINS program, companies receive funding to assist with the cost of providing workforce training and assessment services to current and potential employees. KCTCS-TRAINS funds are distributed on a project basis and can offer a 40% cost savings.

MCTC recently partnered with the 3M plant located in Cynthiana through the KCTCS-TRAINS program. Twenty-one employees completed the Solidworks I program which upgraded skills for engineers and support technicians. Building a better workforce is one of our main goals at MCTC and working with 3M has been a great partnership over the years, stated Kinney.

Companies may apply individually or as a training group with other companies. The training groups meet common training needs of business and industry from various sectors of the economy. The group approach is successful because companies who only need one or two employees trained are able to join with other companies to obtain cost-effective and timely training, stated Kinney. We can assist companies with forming the training groups.
