MCTC Awarded Fourth Military Friendly School Title

Maysville Community and Technical College has once again been named as a Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs Magazine. This is the fourth time MCTC has received this honor. The 2013 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 15 percent of schools that exemplify the best in educational services and overall experiences for military service and veteran students as well as their families.

More than 12,000 VA-approved schools across the nation were researched and surveyed as part of the process. Only 1,739 of these schools received the honor of this title.

MCTC is one of only six other Kentucky-based schools to also receive the student veteran rating.

Approximately 80 active duty, Army Reserve and National Guard soldiers, veterans, and the dependents and spouses of the preceding are enrolled at MCTCs campuses and extensions.

We are proud of our veterans and are happy to provide educational opportunities for them, said MCTC President Ed Story. We want to extend every opportunity that is available to these American heroes. Our advisors are looking forward to assisting each veteran as they select the best option to achieve his or her career goal. Many more options will be available to these students in the near future.

MCTC boasts the main campus in Maysville, both the Rowan Campus and Downtown Extension in Morehead, the Licking Valley Campus in Cynthiana, and the Donald W. Kiser Paris Extension in Paris. The new Montgomery Extension is undergoing construction in Mt. Sterling and is scheduled to offer classes in the spring 2013 semester before opening officially in the fall.

Students eligible for VA educational benefits are able to complete the initial benefits application as well as manage their academic information online through the GI Bill web site.
