Career Craze 2012

image from Career Craze 2012A fun and informative program aimed at raising awareness of possible career choices among Kentucky students, was held at Maysville Community and Technical College this May 29, 30, and 31.

Approximately 130 6th, 7th and 8th grade students from Mason, Fleming and Bracken counties attended as well as students from the Northeastern KY Migrant Education Center.

Students who participated in the program chose three different careers that interested them. Some of the choices included manufacturing, communication, public service, agriculture, photojournalism, architecture, culinary and more!

image from Career Craze 2012The students who attended the manufacturing track led by Lori Cooper of Green Tokai were able to tour Mitsubishi, Green Tokai, and Stober Drives. Those who chose communication, led by Tina Curtis, instructor at MCTC, were able to visit WFTM to learn about broadcasting and toured the Ledger Independent as well. The students who participated in photojournalism, led by Susan Daulton teacher at MCMS, were able to take pictures and interview people working in downtown Maysville. The students also created their own new articles with the pictures and interview information.

The program finale held on Thursday, May 31 from 2 -3:15 p.m. featured a slideshow of pictures showcasing the students time in Career Craze.
