MCTC Workforce Solutions to Host Summer Camps for Kids
Maysville, KY (May 29, 2012) Maysville Community and Technical College Workforce Solutions is announcing an upcoming line up of exciting and educational summer camps for kids. All of the following camps will be held on MCTCs Maysville Campus.
The Maysville Campus Kids College, to be held July 9 through 12, is open to kids ages 5 to 13, with a variety of interests. Participants in the 5 to 8 age group will discover painting, colors, and designs with Mary Jo Shepherd, hands-on reading with Nicole Jackson, and nutrition-related activities, including Nutrition Bingo and ZumbAtomic, with Melissa Mason.
Participants ages 9 to 13 years will be able to choose from numerous sessions. Topics include, Fish Like a Pro with Bill Jones, Safe Sitter with Angie Boone, Crystal Hay, and Bridget Lykins, Creative Crafts with Noelle Boggs, Fun with Math with Lindsay Spangler, ZumbAtomic, Mythbusters with Katelin Jarmin, Cosmetology with Megan Watson, Music with Nick Denham, Multimedia with Michelle Wagner, Drama with Louci Kurtz, and Creative Writing with Louci Kurtz.
Sessions for Kids College will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day with lunch provided by the Maysville Housing Authority. The cost to attend is $20 per session or $55 for all three sessions.
Kids ages 9 to 13 years are invited to see math, science, and technology in action at the Robotics Camp, also to be held July 9 through 12. Participants will build, program, and test LEGO MINDSTORMS and Vex robots. Each participant will bring home a robot they have designed.
Robotics Camp, instructed by MCTC faculty members Terry Pasley and Chris Sears, will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. following Kids College. The cost to attend is $42, which includes a robot kit and snack. Seating availability is limited.
MCTCs Maysville Institute of Culinary Arts and Instructor Ann Flora invite chefs ages 9 to 13 years to attend the Culinary Kids Camp to be held July 16 through 19. These four days of fun will last from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost to attend is $99 dollars. Seating availability is limited.
