A new scholarship at Maysville Community and Technical College (MCTC) has been developed to help employees of area companies go to college without any out of pocket tuition expenses. The Jump Start scholarship will pay for the first two classes (up to 6 credit hours) of any employee who is eligible for tuition reimbursement from their employer. The scholarship was developed to encourage employees to start their college education and provides them with the necessary training to advance at their companies.

The Jump Start scholarship was created because many employees have access to tuition reimbursements through their workplace, but do not take advantage of the benefit since they usually have to have payment upfront for the first semester, stated Robert Boone, Director of Career Development and Experiential Learning. The Jump Start scholarship eliminates the need to have a payment for the first semester.
