MCTC Graduate Returns as AmeriCorps VISTA

Dawnrisha Talbott has been chosen for a yearlong term of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA member for Maysville Community and Technical Colleges Licking Valley Campus (LVC) through Kentucky Campus Compact. Talbott, a Cynthiana native, is the daughter of Leslie Talbott and Blaine Henry. She graduated with an Associate of Arts degree from Maysville Community and Technical College in May 2011.

During her term of service, Talbott will assist faculty members with developing service-learning opportunities and initiatives for their students. She will also create a resource manual consisting of all organizations with whom MCTC has partnered for service-learning projects.

AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national service program that provides opportunities for full-time members to make a tangible difference within the communities they serve. VISTA members help design new programs, or expand ones in existence, with the goal of eradicating cycles of poverty. Kentucky Campus Compact is a membership organization and part of a national network of more than 1,100 college and university presidents representing some six million students who are committed to fulfilling the civic purposes of higher education.
