The faculty and staff of Maysville Community & Technical College welcome former Morehead State University Vice President Keith Kappes who has joined MCTC’s advancement efforts as Community Relations Liaison.
“We are thrilled to welcome Keith and his experience to MCTC,” says MCTC Foundation Executive Director Cara Clarke. “Keith has a career’s worth of knowledge that we get to tap into and use to benefit our students. We have no doubt that he will be an incredible asset.”
Kappes had a 40-year career at MSU where he spent his last eighteen years as vice president for institutional advancement. Most recently, he was publisher of weekly newspapers in Grayson, Olive Hill and Morehead.
“After being away from public higher education for nine years and recalling how critical a two-year institution was to my own college success, I am doubly pleased and excited to be joining the advancement team at Maysville Community & Technical College,” says Kappes.
Long active in the Morehead community, he currently serves as chair of the Morehead Tourism Commission, board chair of the People’s Clinic and a member of the boards of Downtown Morehead, Inc., and Morehead-Rowan County Economic Development Council, Inc.
Kappes has served as president of the Morehead-Rowan County Chamber of Commerce and chair of the Morehead-Rowan County Industrial Authority and Rowan County Ethics Commission. He is a former president of the Kentucky Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.
Kappes will be based at the Rowan Campus of MCTC in the John Will Stacy MMRC Regional Business Park.
