MCTC to Host 4th Annual Electronics Recycling Drop Off
Published on Apr 7, 2017
Maysville, KY-Do you have old electronics that are no longer functioning and are taking up space in your basement or garage? Do not throw them away! In recognition of Earth Day, MCTC will host its annual E-Recycling Drive on Tuesday, April. 25th. Items will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Science Building loading dock on the Maysville Campus. Students from the Conservation Biology class will staff the station and assist you with unloading your electronics.
“Disposing of electronics through regular trash pick-up can often cause toxic waste to leak from landfills into local groundwater, also taking up unnecessary space,” stated Justin Weiss, associate professor of biology at MCTC. “Additionally, many of the unwanted pieces could possibly contain parts that can be used to build new electronics for future use.”
Items that will be accepted include: anything that plugs into a wall (with the exception of CRT televisions and CRT computer monitors), cell phones, remote controls, tablets, and laptop computers. Community members are encouraged to take the time to search their homes and businesses, sheds, basements, storage facilities, and barns and bring their old electronics to MCTC.
