How MCTC Help Make Your Life Better?
From a young age I’ve had an interest in electronics, starting with the most basic AV equipment and going from there. When I first started MCTC, I didn’t realize the spectrum of “Information Technology”. MCTC gave me the skill set that was required to progress into the IT field, the work study program also let me add real-life application to what I was learning in my classes. With the help of my instructors, I became very determined to achieve success. MCTC gave me more than just skills related to my field though, it helped me connect to a network of students like myself and it allowed me to develop good conversational skills after being anti-social most of my life.
Advice for Anyone Starting School or Thinking About Starting School at MCTC?
Advice I would give to anyone starting school would be to do everything you can to stay organized. Generally, there are a lot of options and influences trying to push you right or left, but it’s important to understand that you need to figure out what it is that you want to do, and stay focused on that goal. Don't be afraid to ask about your options as a student. Take the time to ask questions and learn what options and opportunities you have.
Those thinking about starting school at MCTC: Know how to ask for help. Even when I thought I didn’t need help, I was amazed at how far some subjects went beyond what I was reading in a textbook. Get your professors office hours and go to them, they are there to help. There are a lot of great opportunities at MCTC for students that put forth the effort and stick with it.
