Emergency Medical Technician Jan 26-April 19, 2015. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 5:30 – 9:30 p.m., held at the LVC Extension in Harrison Square. Covers all knowledge aspects of trauma care as outlined by national standards, created by federal guidelines, considered to be the responsibilities of ambulance operations. Beginning to intermediate students will learn the skills to use the potter's wheel. Beginners will focus on the fundamentals: centering, throwing bowls and cylinders, pulling handles, and simple trimming and glazing. The class will also encourage participation in the "Empty Bowls" project. This class is the perfect opportunity for students of all levels to learn in a fun, creative atmosphere. Class may be canceled last minute due to low enrollment. Payment is required at the time of sign-up to secure a spot in the class. Class fee includes 6 weeks of classroom instruction, 8 hours of open studio time, a potter's tool kit, up to 50lbs of clay, use of our class glazes and firing. Maximum enrollment is 8 people.

Regardless of whether you’re growing inside a greenhouse or outside in your garden, every gardener should have a basic understanding of soils and their structure and nutrition make-up. We will investigate the elements that make soil beneficial and why some soils are not healthy. There can be great differences in soils and depending on what you’re growing, it can make the difference between healthy plants or plants that suffer with diseases and insects.

Plant five types of greens in this session including spinach, lettuce, kale, cabbage, and collards. These classic, cooler loving plants can be a joy, yet challenge to grow in our gardens if they aren’t protected by the transitional cold in March and April. We will discuss options for growing them in raised beds or hydroponically and the best way to achieve better drainage and grow healthy plants.

The goal of yoga is to harmonize mind, body and spirit through a combination of yoga poses, meditations and breathing exercises. Yoga is helpful to improve your mood, relieve stress, help in pain reduction, and improve breathing, circulation, strength and flexibility. Participants will need to wear flexible clothing (i.e., leggings, bike shorts, sports bra/tank, t-shirt). Yoga is best practiced barefooted. Participants will need to supply their own yoga mat. Practice yoga on an EMPTY stomach. You shouldn't eat 3-4 hours before practicing yoga.
